Dr. Brathwaite started SkinFolkTherapy because she felt that too many people in minority communities were not utilizing therapy. Between the stigma, expense and not feeling comfortable with therapist that don't look like them, Dr. Brathwaite wanted to change that. She wanted Black therapist talking to their communities about the things we usually don't. It is time to break those generational curses and change the notion that Black people don't go to therapy.
